Swami Vivekananda jayanti
A spiritual genius of commanding intellect and power, Swami Vivekananda was born as
Narendra Dutta on 12th January 1863. He rose to instant fame when he represented Hinduism at
the parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893. The youthful Swami Vivekananda was a
key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western
Swami Vivekananda Jayanti is celebrated on 12 th January every year as National Youth Day.
Swami Ji’s birthday falls on the Paush Krishna Saptami, the 7th day after the full moon day in
the Hindu month of Paush.
This year was the 155th birthday of Swami Ji. It was a great occasion to remind ourselves of his
thoughts and vision for India and dedicate ourselves to the cause of the glory of our motherland.
SRI SIIM celebrated the jayanti with full zeal and zest. The students and faculty participated in
the celebration by giving Speeches and presentations. Poetry and songs on Swami Vivekanand
were performed by the students of PGDM 2016-18 & 2017-19.
The puja was performed in the Universal Prayer Hall. The CSR wing of students as a tribute to
great saint organized Bhandara and fed about 300 people.
